Bossier Parish Police Jury October 7 regular agenda meeting: Community and youth recognition

During the October 7 Regular Agenda, Mrs. Erica Derma, Bossier Parish 4-H Parish Chair, announced the celebration of National 4-H Week. She also introduced Ms. Christian Willis, who is a sophomore at Haughton High School and serves as the 2026-2027 State Secretary, who highlighted 4-H students’ leadership, livestock, agriculture, shooting sports, cooking, food challenges, and statewide achievements. Bossier Parish was also recognized as having the largest 4-H enrollment in the northwest region.

The Bossier Parish Police Jury proudly recognized Brooks Beatty and Caleb Coburn for winning the 2026 TBF World Championship Junior title at Lake Dardanelle, Arkansas. They finished with a three-day total of 37 pounds and multiple tournament victories. Brooks and Caleb competed against teams representing 27 states, including Ontario, Canada.

Appointment

The jury appointed Ms. Pam Glorioso, District 9 Juror, to the Shreveport-Bossier Film and Entertainment Commission Advisory Board. The appointment runs through December 31, 2029.

Roads, Drainage, and Capital Projects

The jury awarded the Lucky Estates drainage improvements project, including the base bid and alternate one, for approximately $1.44 million.

The jury awarded the Bayou Bend neighborhood road panel repair project approximately $65,608.

The jury accepted an $80,600 proposal for the Kingston Park Phase 2 project, including a walking trail, bathroom, and playground improvements.

Parish Administrator Report

The administrator reported that strong population growth in Bossier Parish has increased by 33% from 2000 to 2024, with 131,102 people living in the parish. “Bossier is definitely one of the fastest-growing parishes in Louisiana,” said Dr. Ken Ward, Parish Administrator.
