Loyola remained in this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A Top 10 poll despite its loss at Calvary, the top team in Class 2A, but faces another tough matchup to retain a Top 10 berth.
The Flyers (3-2) go to Sterlington Thursday night to begin District 1-3A competition. The Panthers (3-2) are No. 4 in this week’s 3A Top 10 and have won the last two Non-Select Division III state championships.
Loyola slipped only three spots from No. 7 to 10th in this week’s polling.
Calvary, in its third week at No. 1, again received all 11 first-place votes for a second straight poll.
The unbeaten Green Oaks Giants got a little more attention in the 2A poll, edging up two points in the “also receiving votes” listing. No other Shreveport-Bossier teams are getting support.
Only 14 of the 50 ranked teams in this week’s top 10 polls are from the 318 area code.
Eleven sports media members in the LSWA are polled weekly to compile the rankings.
