Six of seven Shreveport mayoral candidates participated Sunday in the 2026 PACE Shreveport Mayoral Forum at LSU Shreveport, hosted by People Acting for Change and Equality, a nonpartisan organization that advocates for LGBTQ+ equality in Northwest Louisiana. Candidates addressed questions about LGBTQ+ rights, discrimination protections, healthcare, youth safety, and building public trust. Caddo Commissioners Stormy Gage-Watts and John-Paul Young, State Rep. Tammy Phelps, Sia Ravari, Michael Williams, and Chaunta Mero all participated. Mayor Tom Arceneaux declined the invitation, citing a busy campaign schedule and saying his absence does not reflect his commitment to serving all Shreveport residents fairly. The general election is November 3.

Shreveport Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a domestic violence attack on a pregnant woman in front of an infant. The incident comes as the department reports domestic violence calls have reached a five-year high in 2026, with more than 2,124 calls received so far this year. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact Shreveport Police or Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
Louisiana Voter Registration Deadline Is October 4 — One Week Away

Louisiana residents have until Sunday, October 4 to register to vote in the November 3 general election. Caddo and Bossier parish races on the ballot include Shreveport mayor, school board seats, judgeships, and the Caddo Parish $60 million sports complex bond proposition. Residents can register online at GeauxVote.com, in person at the Caddo Parish Registrar of Voters, 525 Marshall St., Shreveport, or at any Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles location. Those already registered should verify their registration is current at GeauxVote.com.
