The high school football regular season reaches the halfway point this weekend with two headline matchups, starting with the neighborhood rivalry between District 1-5A rivals Haughton and Parkway.

The unbeaten Bucs and the Panthers, state quarterfinalists last season, collide Thursday night in Bossier City looking to go 2-0 in district play.

Friday night’s top game is not a district contest, but a matchup of two of the highest scoring teams in Shreveport-Bossier or anywhere else – Loyola at Calvary. The Flyers have scored 215 points in four games, one less point than Calvary has posted. That’s a 54 point average.

But Loyola is allowing 35 points per contest while Calvary has given up just 46 all season, just 11.5 per game.
