The Rotary Club of South Shreveport broke ground on a new pavilion at the LSUS Pioneer Heritage Center and presented a $20,000 gift to the LSU in Shreveport Foundation to support the project.

The Pioneer Heritage Center is home to seven historic structures, including two listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The new pavilion will provide students and visitors with a place to gather, learn and connect with Northwest Louisiana’s history.

During the groundbreaking, leaders drove old-fashioned nails into a timber beam to honor the craftsmanship that built the region.
