Two Shreveporters were winners last weekend at the 39th Louisiana Senior Four-Ball Championship in Kenner at Chateau Golf and Country Club.

Shreveport native, Southwood graduate, ULM national champion and Super Bowl quarterback Stan Humphries, a Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame member and accomplished senior golfer, added another title to his extensive golf resume.

Humphries, who now lives in Monroe, and his partner, Billy Gabbert of Marksville, were the Senior Division champions.  They prevailed after two playoff holes, the par 5 18th and the par 3 seventh, when Gabbert made a 7-footer for birdie to win the championship after going 9-under with a 69-66 card in 36 holes.

Shreveport’s Hal Wright and his partner, Wade Botts of Marksville, ran away with the Louisiana Golf Association’s Super Senior Division. Over two days, they carded 13-under-par for the tournament, having a bogey-free round Sunday after firing a 63 on Saturday.
