Southwood High School has been recognized as Caddo Parish’s newest Purple Star School.

Southwood Principal LaToria Grant and the school’s administrative team received the official Purple Star banner from Dr. Ernise Singleton, Assistant Superintendent of Career and College Readiness with the Louisiana Department of Education.

The Purple Star designation recognizes schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to serving students and families connected to the United States Armed Forces.

Purple Star Schools put specific supports in place for military-connected students, including a designated military liaison, resources for families and a student-led transition program to help students feel welcomed and supported when they enter a new school.
