A patriotic theme and an array of entertainment and promotions for the second Centenary home football game of the regular season adds to the appeal for Saturday evening’s home contest against Schreiner, while the Ladies volleyball team is also at home this weekend.
FOOTBALL: The Gents (0-2) return to action in the “Military Heroes Game” with kickoff set for 6 o’clock at Atkins Field.
Saturday’s game will honor military members and veterans while raising funds for The SEAL Legacy Foundation.
Led by Centenary’s Kappa Sigma fraternity, the Military Heroes Game brings together students, student-athletes, alumni, faculty and staff, and the Centenary College Choir in support of veterans and military families. Kappa Sigma has already raised $10,000 toward a $30,000 fundraising goal for the event.
Several special activities are planned throughout the Military Heroes Game. The Frog-X parachute team will deliver the game ball, and a chaplain from Barksdale Air Force Base will offer the pregame prayer. The Centenary, POW and American flags will also be presented before the game.
A slideshow honoring veterans will be shown on the video board before kickoff. During halftime, the Centenary College Choir will perform “Salute to the Armed Forces.”
Military Heroes Game T-shirts will be available for $25, and both cash and card payments will be accepted. Proceeds will support the fundraising effort.
Centenary alumni will also provide free hot dogs at the game. Donations to The SEAL Legacy Foundation fundraising effort can be made through Kappa Sigma.
Gates will open at 5 o’clock. Tickets can only be purchased online. No cash sales will be available. Centenary students, faculty and staff are allowed into every home event free with a valid Centenary ID.

Centenary led at halftime but lost 46-14 to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers last weekend in a non-conference game at Ornelas Stadium in Marshall.
The Gents actually took a 14-12 lead after two quarters over the Tigers but were outscored 34-0 in the second half. Schreiner (2-1) is in its first season as an NCAA program.
WOMEN’S GOLF: Led by a Haughton standout, the Ladies earned a sixth-place tie in the Legends Cup hosted by Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday after shooting a two-day total of 74-over par 650 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, Texas.
Junior Haylee Crowder, a former Haughton High School star, recorded the Ladies’ best individual finish as she tied for 15th place at 12-over par 156 as she shot a final-round 3-over par 75 that was preceded by a 9-over par 81 on Monday. Crowder recorded her ninth career top 15 finish.
The Ladies will tee off in the Abilene Intercollegiate on Oct. 26 hosted by Hardin–Simmons for the two-day event held at Live Oak Golf Club in Abilene, Texas.
VOLLEYBALL: The Ladies make their homecourt debut in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference competition on Friday at home against Austin College in a match set for 7 o’clock inside the Gold Dome.
They were swept in their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday by LeTourneau in Longview.
The Ladies (1-5, 0-1 SCAC) lost 25-9, 25-14, 25-16 to fall to 0-4 on the road this season while LeTourneau (4-8, 1-0 SCAC) improved to 1-1 at home.
WOMEN’S SOCCER: The Ladies blanked the Texas College Steers 5-0 in a non-conference match last Friday as the they recorded their first win of the season and honored the 2026 senior class in a pregame ceremony at Atkins Field.
Their five goals are tied for the third-most in a match in the Division III era (2011-present). The Ladies improved to 1-4-0 this season.
Next up is a Friday contest at Millsaps College at 5:30 in Jackson, Miss.
MEN’S SOCCER: The Gents (3-2-0) blanked Texas College 1-0 on Friday to improve to 3-0 at home this season and 8-3-1 over their last 12 matches on their home field the past two seasons.
The Gents return to action on Friday at Millsaps at 7:30 in Jackson.
