A man convicted of armed robbery and suspected of two murders escaped from Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office custody late Monday after a medical visit in Shreveport. The CPSO immediately launched a search. The escapee is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office immediately or call 911.

Arceneaux said the city’s investment in the Real Time Crime Center’s camera network is a more effective use of public safety funds — a position that puts him at odds with an earlier SPD announcement that the department was moving forward with a citywide gunshot detection network.

Shreveport Regional Airport has been awarded an $18.9 million federal grant as part of a $1.1 billion Federal Aviation Administration investment in airport infrastructure across the country. Airport Director Larry Blackwell said the funds will be used toward a $40 million air traffic control tower relocation project — a key step in the airport’s broader terminal modernization and expansion plan. The existing tower, constructed in the early 1970s and located immediately adjacent to the terminal, limits the airport’s ability to expand its footprint. Moving the tower will allow the airport to add new gates, upgrade passenger facilities, and modernize the Federal Inspection Station. Shreveport Regional serves as the primary commercial airport for the Ark-La-Tex region, connecting travelers to hubs in Dallas, Atlanta, and Houston.
