BPCC invites basketball coaches to next Wednesday’s clinic

Bossier Parish Community College basketball coach Jeff Moore will bring together coaches from the college and professional ranks for its second annual Basketball Coaching & Professional Development Clinic on Wednesday, Sept. 23

The event will be at Coach Billy Montgomery Gymnasium on BPCC’s Bossier campus, located at 6220 East Texas Street in Bossier City.

The clinic is designed for coaches looking to sharpen their approach to the game, learn from experienced leaders and connect with others in the coaching profession. The event will feature six coaches whose experience spans the NBA, NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA levels.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the clinic scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 o’clock. Admission is $30 and includes lunch. Following the clinic, attendees are invited to remain in the gym to observe BPCC  basketball skill workouts.

Featured speakers are:

  • Jeff Moore, Head Coach, Bossier Parish Community College  Moore is entering his 33rd year in college coaching. His career includes assistant coaching stops at LSU and Northwestern State University in addition to his leadership of the BPCC basketball program.
  • Mark Morefield, Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Louisiana Christian University  Morefield spent eight seasons as an assistant coach with the Baylor University men’s basketball program and previously served as head women’s basketball coach at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
  • Malik Cooper, Associate Head Coach, Wiley College – Cooper is a former standout player at Evangel Christian Academy and Louisiana Christian University who has transitioned his experience on the court into a career in coaching.
  • Dale Osbourne, Assistant Coach, New Orleans Pelicans – Known for his defensive expertise, Osbourne brings 14 seasons of NBA coaching experience, including stops with the Portland Trail Blazers, Orlando Magic and New Orleans Pelicans.
  • Aramie Brooks, Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Southern Arkansas University Tech – A former Northwestern State University post player and professional player overseas, Brooks also has experience as an assistant coach with the Southern Arkansas University Tech men’s basketball program.
  • Jonathan Nunez, Assistant Coach, Bossier Parish Community College – Nunez previously served as a graduate assistant at LSU and as an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin State University before joining the BPCC Men’s Basketball staff.
