Gents kick off third season at home Saturday evening

The Centenary football team officially begins its third season this century Saturday when the Gents will face the Millsaps College Majors in a non-conference game set for 6 p.m. at Atkins Field.

No cash sales will be available. Gates at Atkins field open an hour before kickoff.

Centenary students, faculty & staff are allowed into every home event FREE with a valid Centenary ID.

Centenary prepped for Saturday’s regular-season opener with a 29-0 exhibition shutout of the Westgate Christian Ravens last weekend at home.  The Gents are picked to finish third in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference race.

The Majors defeated the Gents 56-14 last season in Jackson.

Millsaps (1-0) opened its season with a 36-20 victory over Belhaven at home last Thursday in a matchup dubbed the “Riverside Rumble.” Millsaps rolled up an impressive 446 total yards (272 rushing/174 passing) and gained 23 first downs. Millsaps led 17-7 at the half.

The Millsaps roster features 52 Louisiana natives.

Next Saturday Centenary will travel to face the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in Marshall.
