The Bossier Parish Police Jury highlighted two upcoming events during its Aug. 19 Regular Agenda Meeting that offer residents opportunities to learn, connect with community resources and stay informed about developments in the region.

The Bossier Parish Disability Disaster Preparedness Workshop will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bossier Central Library Complex, 7204 Hutchison Drive in Bossier City.

The workshop is designed to help individuals with disabilities, caregivers, family members, service providers and emergency management partners prepare for emergencies. Topics will include personal preparedness planning, understanding weather alerts and emergency notifications, sheltering options, pet preparedness, disability-specific emergency planning and local resources available throughout Bossier Parish.

Participants will also have an opportunity to meet with organizations and agencies that provide support services and disaster-related assistance.

The Police Jury also shared information about an Amazon Open House scheduled for Aug. 25 at the Shreveport Convention Center. The event will provide residents an opportunity to learn more about Amazon’s proposed data center developments in Bossier and Caddo parishes and what the projects could mean for the region.

Project representatives are expected to be available to answer questions and provide information about the planned facilities, which are expected to bring significant investment and long-term economic growth to Northwest Louisiana.
