A late-night snack run led to the arrest of a Shreveport man after police said he stole $19.88 worth of food from a Circle K.
At approximately 12:34 a.m. Aug. 11, Shreveport Police responded to the Circle K at 809 Olive Street after a store clerk reported that a man entered the business, grabbed several snacks, filled a fountain drink and left without paying.
Police said the items included three packages of small donuts, two packages of honey buns, one package of pound cake and a fountain drink, totaling $19.88.
The suspect left the area, and an officer searched nearby but initially did not locate him. Police said the suspect then returned to the store while officers were still nearby.
The suspect was detained and identified as John Alex Jordan.
Further investigation revealed Jordan was also wanted in connection with the recent burglary of the Elks Lodge, where property had been stolen from the business. Detectives had previously been working to identify the suspect in that case.
Jordan also had an outstanding theft warrant in connection with another investigation.
Jordan faces one count of theft, one count of simple burglary and an additional outstanding theft warrant.
