Fredrick “Fred” Lee Feazell, born October 15, 1948 and faced Jesus on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at home in the presence of his beloved wife and sister. He was not ready and wanted more time with his family but he was totally prepared to meet his Lord and Savior at his preordained time. So very peaceful.
Fred graduated from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, with the Class of 1966. He then attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston for two and a half years before beginning a successful career in sales. Blessed with a natural ability to connect with people, Fred quickly found his calling working with the public. During the 1970s, he traveled throughout East Texas representing Zenith televisions and Amana appliances until Tri-States Distributing closed its doors.
In 2000, Fred joined CenturyTel in Access Services, where his exceptional leadership and work ethic quickly earned him a promotion to Manager of Telecommunications Network in Shreveport in 2001. In 2002, he and his beloved wife relocated to Cabot, Arkansas, as part of his career with the company. Just one year later, in March 2003, he was promoted to Manager of Field Plant Operations. His career continued to flourish, and in March 2012, he became Manager of IT Operations, leading a team of 20 IT Operations Technicians across six states while supporting users in nine states for all CenturyLink business units. In October 2012, Fred transferred to CenturyLink’s corporate headquarters in Monroe, Louisiana, where he continued serving in the same role until his retirement in August 2015, following the completion of the Qwest acquisition.
Although Fred would have loved to spend more time in his workshop, his curiosity and willingness to help others always took priority. He was a lifelong learner who rarely turned down an opportunity to master a new skill or lend a helping hand. If someone needed assistance, Fred was the first to volunteer. Even while maintaining a demanding career, he somehow found time for several “part-time” jobs that often became full-time commitments in their own right.
Fred’s greatest legacy was not found in his professional accomplishments, but in the lives he touched. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, caring brother, beloved uncle, and loyal friend. Known affectionately throughout the family as “The Cooker,” Fred never let anyone leave his table hungry and delighted in bringing family and friends together over a good meal. He also leaves behind a second family in the many employees he mentored throughout his career. His encouragement, wisdom, and belief in others inspired countless individuals to reach their full potential, a legacy that will continue for generations to come.
Fred is survived by his loving spouse of 46 years, Julia Farrar Feazell; children, Chris Feazell, Keithville, LA. and Jennifer Chancellor (King) Ft. Worth TX; sister, Deborah Beauvais (David) Bastrop, LA; 4 Grands, Dylan Feazell (Sarah), Cameron Feazell (Logan), Cate Feazell Roberson (Hagan) and Sara Holsapple; 5 Great-Grands, Madden Feazell, Cole-Whitley Feazell, Baker Feazell, Adley Feazell and Campbell Roberson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Feazell and Effie Coutee Feazell.
Fred never complained of feeling bad and did not miss work for illness for many years. He was a toughie and when he did run upon some broken bones and other issues, when asked how he was feeling, his response was always…’Don’t cash the check yet. His family is heartbroken to not hear that response any longer….
Fred leaves this earth surrounded by the love of his family and the treasured memories he created with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Scott Carson will be officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 2:00 PM until the time of service.
