
Charles Lynn Cotton, Sr. (Chuck), 87, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Conroe, Texas. Chuck was born July 7, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Benjamin Loveless and Opal Webb Cotton. He served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Puerto Rico. He spent many years working and owning businesses in the oil industry in West Texas. Chuck then traveled all over the country working in wind farm construction. He always loved working and really missed it once retiring. After retirement, he decided it was time to give farming a shot. He loved raising cows, chickens, an occasional hog and even ducks. He spent his mornings milking his cows and gathering fresh eggs. He also enjoyed growing fresh veggies in his garden. And he was one of the few people who loved mowing which he did for many neighbors as well.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Bobbye Nell Bishop Cotton; sisters, Eleanor Lister and Willie Ruth Cotton; and brothers, James Cotton and Doug Cotton.
Chuck was always very proud of his family and is survived by his children – Charlie Cotton and wife Pam of Conroe, and Diane Bone and husband Greg of Conroe. Grandchildren – Stephanie Ranes and husband Phillip of Frankston, Texas, Alisha Hayden of Conroe, Joshua Cotton and wife Sarah of Magnolia, Texas. Great grandchildren – Chase Hayden, Alexis Bess and husband Teddy, Riley Sekel, Daylin Manning and wife Amaya, Jarin Martin, Hayes Cotton and Saydee Martin; great great grandchildren – Waylon and Bishop Bess; and sisters, Linda Wilkerson and Julia Walker, both of Lindale, Texas.
Chuck loved and was loved and admired by family, friends and neighbors. He will truly be missed.
