SSGT. James Williamson and Jettie Anne welcomed their second daughter, Katara Renelle Williamson-Edwards, into the world on March 4, 1974, in England.
Katara accepted Christ at an early age in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended O.D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth, Texas; Green Oaks High School in Shreveport, Louisiana; and graduated with honors from Bossier High School in Bossier, Louisiana, in 1992.
She attended Tennessee State University for one year before transferring to Grambling State University on a band scholarship. In 1995, she enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she served until 1998.
Katara loved computers and technology and enjoyed spending time with her children, family, and friends, as well as traveling. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, she was introduced to the team by her father. She will be remembered for her smile, laughter, love of music and dancing, and her free-spirited heart.
After being diagnosed with ALS in 2024, Katara fought with courage and grace. On July 11, 2026, she passed away at 8:30 a.m.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jettie Anne Williamson; a daughter, Ariana Michelle Williamson; and a brother-in-law, Jason Savannah.
She is survived by her six children: Leo Williamson, Cameron Williamson, Dartangen Williamson, James Williamson II, Alana Jackson, and Saquan Coley; two sisters, Tyesha Harris and Lakita Savannah, both of Shreveport, Louisiana; nephews Davion Hounchell, Carltrell Williamson, Niki Edwards, Ladarius Williamson, and Zachariah Williamson; nieces Jahzmine Williams and Sariah Edwards; one great-niece, Ka’Moni Edwards; her best friend, Elizabeth Thomas; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
