His 10th career hole-in-one helped Airline’s Hudson Greene to another runner-up finish in a state golf tournament Friday.
Greene’s ace came Thursday as he carded his second straight 66 in the Louisiana Golf Association Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship Baton Rouge. He used a 9-iron on the 149-yard fifth hole at Santa Maria Golf Course.
That helped him to a one-shot lead heading to Friday’s final 18 but the back nine was unkind. Greene had a four-shot advantage disappear as Kye Hanks of Lake Charles charged to a three-shot win.
Greene, who will be a junior at Airline, shot two-over 74 Friday and finished at 10-under for the 54-hole championship.
He also took second in the LHSAA Division I Championship tournament in May. Greene was eighth in the state Amateur Championship last month.
Benton’s Grace Goodwin finished fifth in the girls’ state Junior Am. The Class of 2027 senior carved 10 shots off her second-round score with a closing 1-under 71, one of three players to shoot under par in the final round.
She posted a 10-over total for the tournament.
