Add a final high school softball accolade for Calvary Baptist Academy graduate Kynzee Anderson.
It’s a biggie – MaxPreps.com National Player of the Year.
Anderson, the cornerstone of the Lady Cavaliers’ MaxPreps.com national championship team, was joined on the MaxPreps.com All-America team by two teammates returning for next year – Baylor Bockhaus and Loren Sivils.
Anderson and Bockhaus, a sophomore shortstop, were first-team picks. Silvils made the third team. No other Louisiana players made the three teams or received honorable mention when the All-America roster and Anderson’s Player of the Year honor was announced Thursday.
Anderson, a Georgia signee, posted a 30-1 record with a 0.61 ERA and a staggering 318 strikeouts in 171 innings pitched this spring as Calvary went 37-1 and won its sixth consecutive state championship. She set a state record with 129 career wins.
She made All-State for the fourth straight year. For the second season in a row, she was chosen Miss Louisiana Softball and the Class 2A Most Outstanding Player by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. She was MaxPreps.com state MVP and for a second straight year, the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year.
Anderson threw six no-hitters this spring and struck out at least 10 in 18 starts. She fanned 16 batters in Calvary’s victory over Arkansas Class 6A state champion Bentonville.
Bockhaus, a sophomore shortstop, clubbed 21 home runs and collected an astounding 69 RBI, while leading Calvary with a .486 batting average and a .586 on base percentage. She has 61 career round-trippers.
Sivils, a junior corner infielder, hit .462 with 60 RBI, cracking 15 homers.
