Louisiana State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in downtown Shreveport that left a suspect dead and a Shreveport police officer injured early Sunday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police, on July 5, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were requested by the Shreveport Police Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on North Spring Street. Preliminary findings indicate Shreveport police officers responded to a call for service involving a disturbance in an alley behind the 400 block of Spring Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed subject.
