A Shreveport man was charged with aggravated battery following a shooting that occurred during a verbal dispute at a residence in the 600 block of Sumpter Street, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
Detectives said Edward Hardebeck IV allegedly armed himself with a semi-automatic pistol and shot another man in the leg during the argument.
Investigators said the victim, fearing he would be shot again, returned fire and struck Hardebeck in the abdomen. Both men were transported to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment.
Following witness interviews and the execution of a search warrant, detectives determined Hardebeck was the aggressor in the incident. He was charged with one count of aggravated battery.
The investigation remains ongoing.
