The Shreveport Police Department announced it will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in West Shreveport on Saturday, June 20, as part of ongoing efforts to deter impaired driving.
The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at approximately 6 p.m. and continue through midnight.
Police officials are urging motorists to make safe transportation arrangements if they plan to consume alcohol, emphasizing the importance of preventing impaired driving crashes and fatalities.
The department also noted that Cpl. Corey Sullivan and Cpl. Darryl Council are expected to participate in the enforcement effort. According to the department, the two officers were recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving as Louisiana’s top DWI enforcement officers for 2025.
Authorities encourage drivers to use a designated driver, rideshare service, taxi or other alternative transportation if they have been drinking.
