A parking dispute between neighbors in Shreveport resulted in the arrest of a local man on a criminal mischief charge, according to the Shreveport Police Department.

Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. June 17 to a disturbance in the 3100 block of Fairfield Avenue involving neighboring residents.

According to police, investigators reviewed video footage that allegedly showed Michael Sides crawling across the hood of a neighbor’s legally parked vehicle after parking too close to open his own driver’s side door. The footage also allegedly showed Sides placing a sign containing derogatory statements over the victim’s license plate.

Police later made contact with Sides and arrested him on one count of criminal mischief.

The victim told officers the dispute had been an ongoing issue between the neighbors.

Authorities reminded residents that parking disagreements should be resolved through communication, property management or other appropriate channels and should not escalate into criminal activity. The incident remains under investigation.
