
Lots of local standouts spotlighted on Class 5A All-State baseball, softball teams

The Class 5A All-State baseball and softball teams chosen by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association included three first-team selections from Shreveport-Bossier, while another 18 competitors in the two sports received honorable mention recognition.
On the baseball team, two local seniors, Captain Shreve infielder Andrew Sharp and Benton outfielder Cole Snell, earned first-team All-State. Snell was a first-team pick last year while Sharp moved up from 2025 honorable mention billing.
In softball, Benton sophomore pitcher Bayleigh Moniz was a first-team selection for the second straight season.
Ten locals earned honorable mention in softball, including three from Haughton and two each from Airline and Evangel.
There were eight baseball honorable mentions of local standouts, two each from Benton, Captain Shreve and Haughton.
