
William David Parker, M.D., age 72, passed away at his home in Shreveport surrounded by his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren on June 4, 2026.
Visitation will be held on June 9, 2026 at Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 PM on June 10, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shreveport, and interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
William (“Bill”) was born to Wylie and Isabel Parker (nee Schlesinger) on December 7, 1953, in Jennings. Louisiana, the third of six children. He married Mary Frances Rau on July 22, 1978, and together they brought eight children into the world. Bill was a devout Catholic and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. As a local pediatrician, he cared for generations of children throughout his 46 year career. He was an amateur craftsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. He loved spending time with his 19 grandchildren, who equally enjoyed spending time with him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Wylie and Isabel Parker, and his brother, Robert Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Frances, and his children: Genevieve (Mike) Carney, David (Sarah) Parker, Stephen Parker, Anne (Sean) McCrory, Catherine (Justin) Hendricks, John Parker, Mary Jane (Greg) O’Brien, and Elizabeth Parker. Survivors also include his grandchildren: Patrick, Isabel, Daniel and John Paul Carney; Andrew, Maria, Lucy, Dominic, Michael and John Parker; James, William, John, Marie and Henry McCrory; Magdalene, Clement, Louis and Edmund Hendricks; his three brothers, James (Shirley) Parker, Timothy (Beth) Parker, and Richard (Carolyn) Parker; his sister, Mary Kathryn Parker, and sister-in-law, Priscilla (Robert) Parker.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the medical professionals who cared for Bill in his last days.
Memorial gifts may be directed in Bill’s honor to St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Joseph Church chapter, in Shreveport.
