
Voters in Caddo Parish’s Fire Protection District No. 5 flatly rejected a pair of proposed property service charges on Saturday, leaving the district to seek alternative funding pathways for local emergency services.
Both 10-year measures, which appeared on the ballot as companion propositions to fund the district’s operations, failed to capture majority support from residents across the district’s 16 precincts.

The proposed funding package consisted of two distinct service charges, each projected to run for a 10-year duration to bolster fire protection services and infrastructure:

Proposition No. 1: A proposed $75 annual service charge dedicated to the operational and maintenance requirements of the district. The measure was defeated with 54% of voters casting ballots against it.
