On May 9th, 2026, in the early morning hours, my mother went to be with her Lord and Savior.
While the last few days have been a complete blur of grief, I am left with an abundance of memories and a lifetime of lessons learned through love.
Lois Phelps Ford left behind something so very rare and cherished: love, compassion, stories, laughter, and a lifelong ability to make every person she encountered feel important. This has become even more evident through the connections and conversations I’ve shared with others over the last few days. If you knew her, you know exactly what I mean.
She could walk into a hospital, a grocery store, a family gathering, or a random conversation with a stranger and somehow leave with a new friend, a shared story, or a lasting connection. It didn’t matter where she was people remembered her. They were drawn to her warmth and her spirit made an impact everywhere she went.
To me, she was more than a mother. She was safety. She was understanding without words. She was the voice that could still make a grown man feel like her baby boy which, even at 51 years old, is exactly what she still called me to everyone she met.
The lessons, the compassion, the strength, the laughter, and every imperfect but meaningful memory we shared together will continue forward through my devotion to making her proud.
Because that was my mom. Always there for anyone who needed her. Always available for a phone call. Always present. She lived a life where connection was the priority.
A soul that loved deeply and left fingerprints on countless hearts.
May we all strive to move through this world with even a fraction of the kindness, connection, and compassion she carried so naturally.
Rest peacefully, Mom. Aunt Lois. LoLo. Lois. You were deeply loved. And you will be deeply missed.
Memorial Service details will be posted at a later date.
