Firefighters respond to generator fire near Bellevue Road

The Bossier Parish Fire District #1 responded to a commercial structure fire call on May 4 at approximately 9:19 a.m. on Bellevue Road behind the Shield Storage facility.

First arriving units reported heavy smoke coming from the top of a generator at a cell tower site, though no structures were on fire or in immediate danger. Command units contacted the company responsible for the equipment, and firefighters gained access to the generator, removed a panel door and safely shut the system down.

A total of two engines, one rescue unit and two chiefs responded to the scene.

Officials said the incident highlights the wide range of emergency situations crews encounter daily, requiring a high level of training and readiness.
