The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a guardian following an investigation into a reported domestic abuse incident involving a juvenile.
According to authorities, the investigation began on April 8, 2026, after officials at a local high school reported that a student disclosed she had been physically assaulted earlier that morning at her residence. The juvenile reported sustaining injuries to her upper body during an altercation with her guardian.
Detectives conducted interviews with school personnel and worked in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services as part of the investigation. The juvenile was later referred to the Gingerbread House Children’s Advocacy Center for a forensic interview, where she provided additional details about the incident, including information related to a prior unreported event.
As a result of the investigation, Yataaka Shine, 46, of the 5600 block of Buncombe Road, was arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery. She was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center and booked on the charge.
Officials said the case highlights the importance of timely reporting and reflects the coordinated efforts of school officials, child protection services, and law enforcement to ensure the safety of juveniles.
