Steadily impressive play by Parkway product Aubrey Snell has been a hallmark of the Centenary golf team this season.
The Gents shot a 91-over par 955 to finish seventh in the West Region Invitational on Tuesday at White Bluff Golf Resort in Lake Whitney, Texas.
Centenary shot a 56-over par 632 on Monday, shooting an identical 28-over par 316 in rounds one and two and were in sixth place. Centenary finished with a 35-over par 323 on Tuesday at the par 72, 6,866-yard course.
Snell, a junior, had the Gents’ top finish as he tied for 13th place at 10-over par 226 (76-75-75) to earn his fifth top 15 of the season.
Senior Jeffrey Borchert and freshman Trey Bishop tied for 29th place (23-over par 239), freshman Mason Wiener finished 36th at 35-over 251, senior Colton Mayer tied for 37th place (62-over 278) and senior Parker Christensen shot a 75-over 291.
The Gents will compete in the annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships April 19-21 at Hawk’s Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas.
STUNT: The Ladies were selected to compete in the 2026 College STUNT National Championships at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. from April 23–26.
The Ladies, currently ranked sixth in the country in the Division III poll, earned the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Saint Mary’s College (Ind.) on Thursday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m.
“It’s an exciting time for our program,” said Centenary head coach Kaylee King. “To be selected for the national championship is a huge honor, and something that these Ladies have worked hard for.
“They have put in countless hours to earn this spot and I’m so proud of each and every one of them. The true grit of these athletes is what makes coaching fun and to see them get to showcase that in postseason play is awesome.
“We are thankful for everyone who has supported us along the way and we look forward to what Nashville has in store for us!”
SOFTBALL: The Ladies fell 6-4 to the McMurry War Hawks on Saturday in SCAC action at the Centenary Softball Complex. Centenary honored its nine seniors in a postgame ceremony on Saturday.
The Ladies (16-16, 14-10 SCAC) won the series after recording a doubleheader sweep on Friday, winning game one by a score of 9-6 and rallying from a 5-0 deficit in game to win in walk-off fashion 6-5 in eight innings in game two.
Senior first baseman Abigail Hodgson was named the SCAC Hitter of the Week. She had a stellar weekend at the plate in her final home series of her career as she went 7-for-11 (.636) with a .667 OBP and slugged .818.
Hodgson accounted for an impressive seven RBI in the series along with two doubles, a walk, and a run scored. She began the series on a high note as she had a single-game career best four hits in a 9-6 win, finishing 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored.
The Ladies are on the road this weekend to face the nationally-ranked University of St. Thomas Celts in a three-game league series in Houston. St. Thomas (24-7, 22-2 SCAC) is ranked 13th in the current NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.
