
Haughton Elementary School recently celebrated the D.A.R.E. graduation of its 5th grade students, marking the completion of the program and recognizing the students’ commitment to making safe and responsible choices.
Student Jace Tripp welcomed families and guests to the ceremony, followed by Zylan Hampton, who led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Bossier Sheriff’s Office D.A.R.E. Officer and School Resource Officer Deputy Brandon Dunn provided opening remarks and introductions. Those attending also heard from Mrs. Andrea Spinney, Assistant Superintendent for the Bossier Parish School Board, who spoke about the importance of the D.A.R.E. Decision-Making Model (D.D.M.M.) and how the skills students learned through the program can help guide them in making positive choices in the future.
Essay contest winners recognized during the ceremony included Beckett Marks, Celia-Rae Lewis, Aubrey Allen, Nicolas Hicks, and Jaxon Hudgins. Homeroom teachers then presented certificates to all graduating students. A special congratulations goes to Jaxon Hudgins, who was also the recipient of Daren the Lion and Beckett Marks for being the overall essay winner!
Principal Johnson concluded the program with remarks recognizing the students’ achievements and encouraging them to continue making good decisions in the future.
