When Calvary’s Tyrone Jamison was chosen as the 2025 Class 2A All-State boys outstanding player, it was hard to argue the sophomore’s credentials.

This season he basically matched them as the Cavaliers made another run to the state finals in Select Division III. But this time, another junior outpolled him for the MVP award.

Kellen Brewer, the top player for the Metairie Park Country Day team that won its second straight state title by upsetting Calvary again, got the nod from a 12-member Louisiana Sports Writers Association panel.

Brewer averaged 20.1 points, six rebounds, three steals and almost two blocked shots as a 6-foot-6 forward. Jamison, a 6-2 guard, was slightly better in scoring, 20.5, and averaged 5.9 assists.

The LSWA has released its “small school” All-State teams in Classes 2A, 1A, B and C, with the 3A, 4A and 5A squads to be announced soon.

Joining Jamison on the 2A boys All-State squad was honorable mention pick Jaiden Hall, also a junior guard for Calvary.

Green Oaks’ run to the Non-Select Division III boys semifinals was rewarded when the Giants’ top player, Quintavious Stanford, received Class 2A honorable mention status.

The Lady Giants also had an honorable mention selection, Shaniya Gray.

On the Class A girls All-State roster, Plain Dealing junior Jakayla Douglas had the state’s second-highest scoring average (27.3) and made second team after leading the Lady Lions to the second round of the Non-Select Division IV playoffs.
