
The Shreveport Police Department Special Victims Unit was assigned a case on March 6 involving an alleged violation of a protective order.
The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, identified as Carl Smith Jr. (DOB: 04/29/2003), violated an active protection order on March 5, while at a Murphy Gas Station located on West 70th Street. During the incident, Smith reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim and attempted to escalate the situation into a physical confrontation.
Investigators with the Special Victims Unit obtained surveillance footage on March 9 from the Murphy Gas Station, which corroborated the victim’s account. The video showed Smith removing his shirt and attempting to initiate a fight before leaving the scene in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival.
Smith was located and taken into custody on March 20 around 6:30 a.m. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of Probation Violation and Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment. At approximately 1:00 p.m., an additional charge of Violation of a Protective Order was added.
