Haughton’s eight-run fourth inning Friday night in a District 1-5A game set the stage for quite a postgame celebration of an early March win.

The 16-5 final, with the Bucs overcoming a two-run deficit against Byrd, was career victory No. 700 for Haughton coach Glenn Maynor. That places him in elite territory with only two other high school baseball coaches in the state known to have crossed the 700-plateau – Barbe’s Glenn Cecchini (1,118 entering his 40th season this spring) and Frank Cazeaux (765) of Rummel, also still going.

Maynor, 54, is in his 32nd season as the Haughton coach. The Bucs moved to 10-6 this season with Friday’s triumph.
