Six local girls basketball teams play LHSAA second-round playoff games tonight, with the two highest seeds, Huntington and Captain Shreve, hosting Select Division I contests after enjoying byes in last Thursday’s opening round.
The defending state champion Lady Raiders, seeded fourth like they were last year, meet 13th-seeded Woodlawn of Baton Rouge. The Lady Gators, seeded eighth, will play No. 9 Archbishop Chapelle.
On the road in Round 2 are Booker T. Washington, Haughton, Parkway, and Plain Dealing.
After defying the odds last Thursday by making a round trip of over 800 miles to beat South Plaquemines in a first-rounder, Plain Dealing has a much easier trip tonight but an infinitely more difficult matchup, visiting perennial Division IV Non-Select power Arcadia.
