John Lane Kirkland was born on May 26, 1949, and passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2026.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Benton L. Kirkland Sr. and Irma Heard; his beloved wife, Sharon Kirkland; his siblings B.L. Kirkland Jr., Paul D. Kirkland, Carrie Martin, Derald Kirkland, Gerald Kirkland, and Carl Kirkland; and his cherished grandson, Cade Kirkland.
He is survived by his siblings Perry Kirkland and wife Sherry, Mike Kirkland and wife Debbie, and Alta Roberts and husband Bill; his children Jason Kirkland and wife Carol, Bobby Kirkland and wife Laura; his stepdaughter Melissa Adcock and husband Darrell; and his grandchildren Kenzie Adcock, Benton Kirkland, Emily Kirkland, Triton Kirkland, Fisher Kirkland, and Ranger Kirkland.
John worked with his hands his entire life and could fix just about anything. Hard work wasn’t something he talked about—it was simply how he lived. When he wasn’t working, he loved being in the woods hunting, finding peace in the quiet and the outdoors.
He was deeply devoted to his family and will be remembered for his strong hands, steady presence, and the way he showed love through his actions.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service. Family and friends are encouraged to remember John in their own way.
We take comfort in knowing he has laid down his tools, found his rest, and is reunited with those who went before him. Until we meet again, his love and lessons will live on in all who knew him.
