The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office marked the retirement of two longtime leaders on Jan. 30 honoring Assistant Chief Tony Staton and Major Donnie Keith for decades of service that helped shape the agency.

Assistant Chief Tony Staton concluded a career that began on April 24, 1995. He started with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office in the Patrol Division and later served approximately two years in the Detectives Division before returning to Patrol. His leadership and dedication ultimately led to his promotion to Assistant Chief over the Criminal Division, a role in which he guided operations and mentored deputies across the agency.

Major Donnie Keith retired after a lifetime of service that began on April 1, 1972. During his career, Major Keith worked throughout the Criminal, Civil, and Support Divisions. After a brief break in service to assist with his family’s business, he returned to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office to complete his career where it began. Including his time as both a reserve officer and a full-time deputy, Major Keith dedicated a total of 54 years to law enforcement with the agency.

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington reflected on the impact of both men, saying he had the privilege of working alongside them as they served the office and the people of Bossier Parish with dedication and care. He noted that their commitment strengthened the agency, influenced generations of deputies, and created a legacy that will endure beyond their final day in uniform.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the years of sacrifice and leadership demonstrated by Assistant Chief Staton and Major Keith and extended best wishes to both as they begin their retirements.
