Caddo Parish begins roadway treatment ahead of winter weather

Caddo Parish Public Works crews began treating roadways Jan. 22 as part of ongoing preparations for anticipated inclement winter weather, parish officials said.

Treatment operations started in the northernmost areas of the parish before progressing back toward the Shreveport base camp and then continuing into southern portions of Caddo Parish. Crews are applying materials to help reduce the risk of icy conditions on roads and bridges as temperatures drop.

According to parish officials, the Public Works Department maintains year-round readiness for severe weather events. In recent days, crews have prepared equipment and supplies, including sand, salt, and brine trucks, and remain ready to deploy plows if snow or ice begins to accumulate.

Monitoring and roadway treatment efforts will continue as weather conditions evolve. Public Works crews are also assisting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development in maintaining access on major interstates and bridges throughout the parish during the weather event.

Residents are encouraged to use caution when traveling and to stay informed through local updates as conditions change.
