The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Deputy Tim Jordan, who died following a work-related incident.

At approximately 8 a.m. on Jan. 21, Deputy Jordan, a four-year veteran of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, was struck by a train while working a traffic assignment. Preliminary information indicates the deputy may have misjudged the proximity of his vehicle to the train tracks.

Deputy Jordan was transported to Ochsner LSU Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Sheriff Julian Whittington said the loss has deeply impacted the agency, noting Deputy Jordan’s dedication to public service and his commitment to protecting the citizens of Bossier Parish. The sheriff’s office described the day as an extremely difficult one for Deputy Jordan’s family, fellow deputies, and the broader community.

The Louisiana State Police are leading the investigation into the incident.
