Bossier Parish Fire District #1 responded to a reported structure fire shortly after 12 pm on Jan. 11 on Wafer Road in the Eastwood community.

Upon arrival, first responding units determined that no structures were actively burning. Firefighters found a large amount of debris burning between two structures, with the fire threatening to spread and cause structural damage. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire and protect the nearby buildings.

Firefighters were able to save both structures, limiting damage to a minimum. A total of three engines, one rescue unit, one brush unit, one EMS unit, one tanker, and one chief responded to the scene.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, officials indicated that intentional burning is not suspected. Fire District officials used the incident as an opportunity to remind residents that Bossier Parish remains under a burn ban. All outside burning is prohibited until parish officials officially lift the ban.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and comply with burn restrictions to help prevent fires that could threaten homes and property.
