The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy welcomed its newest class of recruits this week and will begin its Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) program.

This class includes 32 recruits from 10 different law enforcement agencies across the region. Over the next 16 weeks, these men and women will undergo intensive training designed to prepare them for the demands of a career in law enforcement.

The comprehensive curriculum includes officer survival skills, active shooter drills, officer-down scenarios, academic instruction, firearms and weapons qualification, physical fitness training, use of chemical weapons, legal instruction and case law, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operation, professionalism in law enforcement, and other vital topics.

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington commented, “The men and women of class 35 are beginning a challenging but rewarding journey. The training they receive here will prepare them to serve the citizens they represent with professionalism, accountability, and respect.”

Recruits represent the following agencies: Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, Arcadia Police Department, Benton Police Department, Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bossier City Police Department, Haynesville Police Department, Minden Police Department, Northwestern State University Police Department, Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office, Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.
