Caddo, Bossier Parish students named regional honorees in 2026 Students of the Year Program

Students from both Caddo and Bossier parishes have been named Regional Honorees in the Louisiana Department of Education’s 2026 Students of the Year program, recognizing outstanding achievement, leadership, and service.

The Louisiana Department of Education, in partnership with the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), announced the 2026 regional honorees, honoring exceptional fifth-, eighth-, and twelfth-grade students from across the state. The Students of the Year program recognizes excellence in leadership, academic performance, achievements, citizenship, and service to schools and communities.

Regional honorees are selected through a review process involving public, charter, and nonpublic schools within each BESE region. From this group, one student per BESE region will be named a finalist later in the school year. Finalists will be announced and recognized at an awards ceremony, where one overall honoree per grade level will be selected.

From Caddo Parish Public Schools, two students were named regional honorees: Sanil Thorat of Fairfield Elementary Magnet and Brexton Lopez of Captain Shreve High School. District officials praised the students for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence.

Bossier Parish also had students recognized at the regional level. Hadleigh Anne Fulghum was named an eighth-grade regional honoree, and Kang-Sahn Joshua Noh was selected as a twelfth-grade regional honoree, representing Bossier Parish.

Education leaders from both parishes congratulated the students, noting that their accomplishments reflect the strong academic standards and community values within their school systems. The honorees will continue in the selection process as the competition moves forward later this school year.
