CONWAY, Ark. – The struggling Centenary football team could not keep pace with the Hendrix College Warriors on Saturday night as the Gents fell 64-10 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game inside Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.

The Gents (1-6, 1-3 SCAC) were hit with 44 unanswered points in the second and third periods. The Warriors improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in league play and will play for the regular-season SCAC title against McMurry next Saturday.

The first quarter ended scoreless between the two teams, but Hendrix exploded to score 28 points in the second quarter and another 23 points in the third quarter to put the game well beyond doubt.

After the Gents got on the board with an 11-play, 35-yard drive producing a Zane Wyss 35-yard field goal, Hendrix responded with a 96-yard kickoff return for a 51-3 lead.

Centenary’s other score was the game’s last one, with 2:49 left. A 55-yard, 8-play drive ended on Obadiah Butler’s 14-yard run.

The Warriors outrushed Centenary 157-62, totaling 512 yards of total offense.  Centenary had 244,
Hendrix limited Centenary to just 11 first downs, with the visitors converting on just three of 14 third-down conversions.

Freshman Brock Hamilton went the distance at quarterback, becoming the fourth player to start at QB this season. Hamilton went 20 for 30 with no interceptions and threw for 182 yards. Theo Dunn caught eight passes for 93 yards.

The Gents will finish their regular season next Saturday at home against Austin College in a conference contest set for 6 at Atkins Field. Centenary will honor its senior class and the cheer team seniors in a pregame ceremony.
