Calvary faces its toughest hurdle on the path to a 13th-consecutive undefeated district record when the Cavaliers, ranked on. 4 in Class 2A, host Union Parish tonight at Jerry Barker Stadium.

Both teams are 3-0 in District 1-2A.

The Cavaliers (5-1 overall) haven’t lost a district game since late in the 2012 season. Last week they rolled 41-12 at Homer. Union Parish (3-3) played a very tough non-district schedule, losing to North DeSoto, Alexandria Senior High and Airline, playing the visiting Vikings to 34-19 on Sept. 19.

The Farmers hammered Homer on the road, 48-16, a week before the Pelicans hosted Calvary. They have allowed only five touchdowns in their three league wins, their last three games.

Junior cornerback/receiver Braylon Huglon is the catalyst for the Cavs with 13 TDs, including nine receiving and two on kickoff returns.

In 1-5A, unbeaten Parkway (6-0, 4-0) plays at Huntington (3-3, 3-2) as the top district matchup.

Captain Shreve hosts Destrehan in a non-league contest pitting 4-2 teams with explosive offenses. Last year’s meeting ended 46-42 Destry when the Wildcats stopped the Gators inside the 5 in the closing seconds.

In the only game involving local teams Thursday, 1-5A pacesetter Evangel blanked and blew away Benton on the road, 59-0.

The Eagles (6-1, 6-0) led 42-0 at halftime so the second half was played with a running clock. The Tigers (2-5, 1-4) were shut out after averaging 49 points in their last four games.
