The Shreveport Police Department would like to remind community members and media partners that no one will ever call any member of the public soliciting money.
There has been an increase in reports of scams involving individuals posing as law enforcement officers, including police officers, sheriff’s deputies, jailers, or even federal agents from the FBI. These scammers often claim that a payment is needed to avoid arrest, clear a warrant, or assist with an investigation.
The SPD wants to make it absolutely clear, no member of the SPD force will ever contact an resident by phone to request or demand money.
Anyone who receives a call from someone claiming to be a police officer or other law enforcement official asking for payment, hang up immediately and contact a local law enforcement agency to verify the claim.
Public awareness is key to stopping these scams. Share this information with friends, family, and especially elderly relatives who are often targeted.
