Caddo Fire District #4 crews discovered flames at the Woolworth Road Landfill (10580 Woolworth Rd.) using their thermal imaging drone just after 1am on Sunday, Sept. 28. Firefighters from CFD 4, CFD 3, and CFD 6 responded, with heavy machinery brought in to help cap and extinguish the fire. Crews remained on scene for several hours until it was safe and under control.

 

Smoke may remain visible in the area this morning, but landfill staff are on site monitoring. The cause is under investigation.

 

Safety Reminder: Never place hot items like used charcoal, ashes, fireworks, or cigarettes into household trash. Allow them to cool completely and soak in water before disposal.
