Officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 1601 Martin Luther King Drive on Aug. 18 at approximately 10:45pm. Upon arrival, officers discovered Labriesha Patterson
(DOB: 09/15/1996) suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Shreveport Fire Department responded to the scene and initiated life-saving measures. Unfortunately, Patterson was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Immediately following the incident, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit began canvassing the area for
surveillance footage and other items of evidentiary value. Working diligently through the night, investigators developed leads that identified a possible suspect: Deceldrion Gay (DOB: 04/04/2006).
Gay was located, taken into custody, and transported to the Violent Crimes Office for a formal interview.
Based on information obtained during the interview and further investigation, officers from the Violent Crimes and V-CAT (Violent Crimes Abatement Team) Units executed a coordinated effort that led to the apprehension of two additional suspects – Tywann Gipson (DOB: 04/03/2008) and Rodney Thomas Jr. (DOB: 09/12/2005). Both individuals were interviewed and subsequently charged.
At this time, all three suspects have been arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder in connection
with Patterson’s death.
Chief Smith commended the coordinated efforts of the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Team and V-CAT members. “This was a cowardly act of violence that tragically claimed the life of an innocent woman,” said Chief Smith. “Thanks to the tireless work, planning, and teamwork of our investigators and specialized units, we were able to quickly identify and apprehend multiple suspects. These young men will be held accountable for their actions.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department or Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
