BPPJ provides project update on U.S. 80 asphalt overlay

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the ongoing project to repair a five-mile section of US 80 in the Bossier City-Haughton area of Bossier Parish continues to make significant progress.

The contractor for the $8.4 million project has completed laying all layers of new asphalt on both the eastbound and westbound travel lanes, which stretch from the Flat River near Bossier Parish Community College to Merrywood Boulevard.

Current work includes laying new asphalt for turn lanes, median crossovers, driveway connections, roadway shoulders, and guardrail pads and guardrail replacements.

Future work includes installing the loop detectors at the traffic signals and applying permanent roadway striping and signage.

Motorists should expect continued intermittent lane closures while construction activities continue to move forward, and drive with caution through the area.

The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in late 2025, weather and other factors permitting.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and reminds everyone to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between vehicles.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
