
Shreveport Fire Department received calls for a report of an apartment fire in the 3700 block of Fairfield Avenue at the Normandy Village Apartments on Saturday, July 19, at 5:04am. The 911 call was made by an occupant of the complex.
Engine 10 arrived on scene within 4 minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames visible from an upstairs unit with an occupant calling for help. Crews quickly made entry into the structure and rescued the victim, performing life-saving measures.
Medic 10 transported the victim to a local area hospital where they remain in serious but stable condition. It took the efforts of 14 units to bring the blaze under control by 5:20am. The fire was contained to one unit, and the building was ventilated to remove smoke and gases for the safety of other occupants.
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by Shreveport Fire Arson Investigators at this time.
