The powerhouse Parkway girls basketball program got a new coach Wednesday and a familiar face.

Parkway athletics director Coy Brotherton announced Brittney Dukes as the head coach of the Lady Panthers, who have played in four straight state championship games, winning two (2023, 2024).

Dukes was a four-year starter for the Lady Panthers under head coach Aaron Megee, then continued her athletic career at Trinity Valley Community College and eventually finished her career at Southwest Baptist.

She coached 10 seasons at Southwest Baptist, climbing to associate head coach during her last four years.

“We are excited to have a former Lady Panther lead our team,” said Brotherton. “We expect the level of excellence to continue with Coach Dukes at the helm. We can honestly say that she embodies the ‘Loyal Forever’ mentality.”

Dukes follows Gloria Williams, who announced her retirement from coaching this spring so she could spend time watching her soon-to-be teenaged son compete. Williams has guided Parkway to an extended District 1-5A winning streak.
