To enhance safety in churches across Caddo Parish and its surrounding areas, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is currently offering two awareness training classes tailored for churches, synagogues, and mosques.

This free course aims to prepare places of worship and the public for potential active attack situations and various hazards, including severe weather. The instructor will discuss Louisiana laws regarding concealed carry in religious settings, procedures for carrying concealed weapons in these facilities, security recommendations for your place of worship, and how to develop effective emergency plans.

The classes will be held at the following locations:

• Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Safetytown: 8910 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, on July 9 at 6pm.
• University Church of Christ: 2045 East 70th Street, Shreveport, on August 13 at 6pm.
